Dog Abandoned for not Matching Decor

I read it in the newspapers, I see it on tv and the internet and am bitterly disappointed and angry at the amount of dogs that are 'thrown away' in our supposedly dog loving country by humans that should not be let within a square mile reach of a dog.

The United Kingdom has one of the worst records for dog abandonment in Europe, with up to 200,000 dogs each year needlessly destroyed.

Tess, abandoned for not matching the sofa

My very good friends have a wonderful dog called Tess, a German Shepherd mix who they rescued. This dog is a joy and if I gave you a hundred guesses as to why Tess was given to a dog rescue centre to be re-homed by her previous owners I bet you could not guess the right answer.  The reason why these people gave Tess up is because she is white with brown spots. They wanted a brown dog with white spots so that she would fit in with their furniture. Im not shy to say, I would take a bullet for Tess, we have a special relationship.  And to know that this is her history, this is how mankind treated this dog, this dog with big brown eyes full of total love, devotion and complete loyalty.

Dog rescue centres do a great job at re-homing many of these beautiful animals but unfortunately with the huge amount of unresponsible and unregulated breeding that goes on, there are so many new born puppies out there that most people go for this option rather than going to a dog rescue centre and re-homing a life that will that will be saved from death. I speak to many people and many say that they would rather buy a puppy than rescue a dog as they do not know the history of the dog behind bars.

With this in mind I have started a new advertising campaign for people wanting a dog, where I will go with them to a dog rescue centre and carefully match them with the rescue dog best suited to their lifestyle and energy levels.
